As the CEO and Founder of Straits Interactive Pte Ltd, Kevin provides and drives the vision, strategy and innovation of the company’s Data Privacy & GRC (Governance, Risk Management & Compliance) offerings that build upon the foundation of enabling trusted businesses and responsible marketing.
He is the author of “88 Privacy Breaches to Beware of” and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Privacy Technologist (CIPT), awarded by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He is also co-chair of the IAPP Singapore KnowledgeNet chapter and an official IAPP trainer for privacy certification courses in the region. In addition, he is a governance, risk management and compliance professional (GRCP) under the Open Compliance Ethics Group (OCEG) and an official OCEG trainer.
Having held Asia Pacific leadership and management positions in his 20+ years in the IT industry with Creative Technology, Sun Microsystems and Oracle Corporation, Kevin brings his experience in strategy, business development, operations and marketing to Straits Interactive. Throughout his corporate career, Kevin was a multiple award winner of both worldwide and Asia Pacific employee excellence awards, which includes marketing excellence, market intelligence and technology innovation. He is a sought after speaker for Data Privacy and Protection where he has consulted on more than 50 projects.
Kevin holds a MSc degree (Internet & Media) from Nanyang Technology University and Bachelor of Arts & Social Sciences from National University of Singapore. Besides being a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID), he is also a certified Master Practitioner in NLP and Neuro-Semantics as well as a Certified Hypnotherapist.

William’s role as the Chief Technology Officer of Straits Interactive is to develop and build technology focused solutions that help companies in their PDPA compliance and responsible marketing efforts.
In the last 10 years, he has been a highly sought after Web Developer and Digital Marketing Architect. He is well-versed in an array of software and web programming languages and is also equipped with skills in graphic design, UX design, video editing and audio engineering. His key expertise lies in his ability to map business logic and requirements accurately and effectively into technical specifications.
William is a Certified Information Privacy Manager and Certified Information Privacy Technologist under the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
William holds a Bachelor of Computing in Electronic Commerce from the National University of Singapore.

As CMO of Straits Interactive, Alvin drives marketing strategy and awareness for the company’s innovative privacy solutions that build upon the foundation of responsible marketing. He also charts the directions of the company’s channel and sales strategy.
A Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) with more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience under his belt, he has had a successful career spanning Enterprise Sales, Strategic-Selling and Regional Channel Sales covering multiple industries as well as managing a marketing consulting company.
Alvin is a former Sales Director at Sun Microsystems where he managed a $100 million sales portfolio in the highly competitive industries of Finance, Telecoms, Healthcare and Government. A driven sales professional, he has won multiple sales awards including five sales achievement awards, an Innovation award from Singapore Technologies for Industrial Systems Oil Distribution (which became a multi-million dollar product) as well as an Outstanding Asia South Sales Director at Sun Microsystems.
Hearing the call of entrepreneurship, Alvin went on to start his marketing company, ThinkAccelerator, to provide strategic online marketing and business optimization services to companies. He has gone on to help clients expand their channels of marketing beyond traditional media and geographies across these industries.
Alvin has spoken at many IT conferences and has conducted numerous workshops for both C-level executives of large companies and SMEs covering IT Architecture and Technology, Internet Marketing, and SEO (Search Engine Marketing and Optimization).
He holds an Executive MBA, International Business Administration, from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick and is well-versed in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, having been trained by Anthony Robbins.
Marketing & Communications Director
With more than 25 years experience in product, sales and marketing within the IT & Marketing Services industry, Angela oversees all communications, marketing events and customer engagement in Straits Interactive.
She has held various positions in the course of her career, allowing her to develop a deep understanding of business and channel development, infrastructure and outsourcing as well as campaign, media and communications project management and execution. She has worked in both multinationals and start ups and finds that the best way to get business done is to ‘get down and do it’ within the processes and framework of the company she works in.
Her job stints have seen her work in companies that include Singapore Computer Systems, NCS, BMC, NEC and Acxiom. While at Acxiom, Angela played an active role in the Direct Marketing Association of Singapore (DMAS) and was the Head of the Data Council.
Passionate about visual communications in the new age of content and technology, she also manages a photography practice that helps clients communicate their story.
Angela graduated from Staffordshire University with a Graduate Diploma in Computer Studies.
As the Operations Director of Straits Interactive, Lina oversees all operations and special projects of the company.
She hails from the finance industry and started her career with the central bank, Bank Negara of Malaysia. As a scholar, Lina served with the Malaysian banking regulator in various roles and subsequently moved to the private sector with UOB Asset Management in Singapore as a Funds Analyst, specialising in the Japanese market fund. This fund under her did exceptionally well and was recognised by the Wall Street Journal for outstanding performance.
Following her career in asset management, she joined Fresh Chilli Angel Fund as Chief Investment Officer where she evaluated target firms and help sourced funding for the portfolio.
Lina holds a major in Economics from Manchester University (UK) and is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager under the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Her experience in the Finance industry with a banking regulator and fund management adds bench depth to our expertise in this industry.
Cheng Hwee Chin

As Straits Interactive’s Financial Controller, Hwee Chin is responsible for the financial and management reporting functions of the company. With more than 15 years of experience in the fields of assurance, accounting and tax advisory, she has carved out a successful career in both a leading international accounting firm and various small and medium-sized practices, holding the senior position of Audit Partner.
Throughout her career, Hwee Chin served a broad range of clients, from MNCs to SMEs, both listed and non-listed, in industries such as retail, real estate, construction, investment holdings, food & beverage, education, manufacturing and logistics. Her wide exposure and deep financial knowledge has enabled her to provide her clients with valuable insights of their financial information.
Hwee Chin is a graduate and a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). She is a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant (ISCA), an Accredited Tax Advisor [Income Tax] of the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals (SIATP) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) awarded by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Wong Mei Kwan

Wong Mei Kwan, who is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), has more than 14 years of consulting experience with expertise in Project Management, Solution Development, Business Process Management & Redesign, Strategic IT Planning, IT Governance, Change Management, Knowledge Management and Enterprise Architecture (EA).
Mei Kwan has developed a strong background in technology and product management starting early in her career as a Project Lead developing and operationalising the Nationwide Web-based application systems, i.e. System for Online Death Registration (SOLDER) and the One-Stop Change of Address System (OSCARS) for the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore. These systems pioneered 3-tier thin-client applications with backend (middleware) integration with the mainframe people (hierarchical) database.
Her 11-year stint in NCS, the largest IT System Integration Company in Singapore has yielded a wealth of experience and expertise in different roles as a Solution Architect, Product Manager, Project Manager and Business Consultant. This included fronting customers, working with partners, supporting NCS in technology management as well as implementing projects for NCS customers. A notable (knowledge driven) project was for the SARs Outbreak, helping the NCS team as Project Manager to extend and stabilise the initial crisis-activated Contact Tracing System for the Ministry of Health, which had taken over from the Ministry of Defence.
Over last 15 years, Mei Kwan participated in various E-Government projects in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Hong Kong. Her World Bank consulting experience included being member of the NCS IT Governance Consulting team to the Sri-Lanka eGovernment Project developing the IT Governance Framework and Training Programme for the provision of e-Governance services. Her last 4 years were spent with C3S Pte Ltd, a boutique Singapore IT company dealing with high-availability solutions, IT outsourcing as well as providing E-Government consulting in Vietnam.
In Vietnam for the last few years, Mei Kwan was part of the Consulting Team involved in World Bank funded projects for Danang City (ICT master plan), Ministry of Information and Communication (ICT Policy, Competency Development and Training Programmes) and General Statistics Office (Enterprise Architecture). As a certified TOGAF EA consultant, she was involved in the GSO-wide Business Architecture and Information Architecture Consulting Areas. This included an in-depth study to the detailed Data Collection and Processing across GSO statistical operations to share and disseminate data with other government and donor agencies.
Mei Kwan’s end-to-end experience and business-technology skillsets, especially with E-Government and data-driven projects has helped her gain a deep understanding of how the PDPA Compliance can be implemented from a governance and business perspective. Within Straits Interactive, she helps to manage Straits’ Compliance and Privacy Processes, providing inputs in consulting engagements. In addition, she is involved from Pre-Sales to Delivery of Advisory Services, thereby ensuring a consistent engagement for Straits’ customers.

Sanjeev, who heads the GRC practice is an experienced internal auditor cum fraud investigator. He has worked with several MNCs across the Asia Pacific Region and has extensive experience in internal auditing, risk and fraud management.His experience spans across diverse sectors that include FMCG, Automotive, Construction, Plantations, Property and Estate Management, Semi-Conductor, Hospitality and Manufacturing. Some of the companies where he was employed and did consultancy work for include Pricewaterhouse Coopers (Malaysia), Sime Singapore Limited, Exxon Mobil, SKF Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, BDO Binder Sdn Bhd, Microsoft Singapore and United Technologies Group.
Despite a busy work load, Sanjeev delivers workshops and lectures at universities, both local and abroad as well as to corporations. Topics which he covers are in the areas of Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Fraud Management and Internal Controls. In addition to the workshops and lecturing, Sanjeev also contributes articles to the press and is featured regularly in the local Brunei daily. He has also written case studies on fraud and internal controls lapses for a local university in Malaysia.
Sanjeev obtained his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Monash and Victoria University respectively and has since completed his Certificate in Human Resources Management focussing on Talent Management and Certificate in Ethics and Anti-Bribery Compliance.

As a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Head of the E-Learning division, Celine provides insights to the behavioural change and learning required for teams to embrace change initiatives. The PDPA is one such initiative which requires businesses to learn new practices to meet compliance.
Celine’s years of experience included a senior leadership and management role in MindChamps Singapore, where she headed training and program development. Being a key member of the international expansion team as well as a regional trainer of trainers, Celine is familiar and experienced with the behavioural change required in implementation of programmes and initiatives.
Throughout her career, Celine has won accolades and employee leadership awards for learning and training innovation. She has extensive training experience internationally and specialises in the social, emotional and cognitive aspects of learning. She is also an executive coach to senior executives in multinational as well as regional companies.
Celine graduated with a distinction in MSc (Social Cognition) from University College London, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (NIE, NTU), BSc (NUS) and is a certified Master Practitioner in NLP, Coach and Values-Based Leadership Trainer.

William Hioe, who is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), brings with him more than three decades of ICT experience in the government and public sector, first as an assistant director in Systems & Computer Organisation, MINDEF, and then as a senior director of strategic planning at the National Computer Board (NCB) / Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). Currently, he is the managing director of Cynergie Consulting Pte Ltd, a company founded by him to offer consultancy and training services in strategic ICT planning, strategy development, policy formulation and enterprise architecting.
During his career in the government and public sector, William Hioe has built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise in ICT planning, development, implementation and project management in such diverse areas as human resource management, financial management, logistics management, procurement management, decision support systems, wargaming, and command and control systems. At NCB/IDA he was involved in the visioning, strategising and development of national-level ICT masterplans, namely IT2000, Infocomm21, Connected Singapore and iN2015. He was also responsible for ICT policy research and formulation in such areas as secure e-transactions, digital signature, anti-spam, and data confidentiality and privacy.
As a lead consultant of Cynergie Consulting, William Hioe has played an active role in consulting with government bodies in the region on the visioning, strategising and development of a municipal-level ICT masterplan, an enterprise architecture for a national statistics organisation, and a national-level ICT industry development strategy and policy for a government department.
William Hioe graduated with a B.Sc.(Engg) in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of London and a Masters in control engineering and operational research from the University of Cambridge. He is a certified enterprise architecture practitioner from The Open Group, a professional organisation responsible for spearheading the world-renowned TOGAF enterprise architecture framework and development methodology.

Azhar Azib is the founder of rawonionDecisions, a CRM and Integrated Engagements advisory practice, passionate about Sustainable Engagements.
Azhar is a Data Architect by training and a seasoned Database Marketer and Change Leader by practice. He is also a GRC Professional (GRCP), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Technologist (CIPT). His 25-year corporate career sees him in many roles driving innovation, change and excellence in the way large corporations engage with their customers and partners.
His last corporate role was as Regional Marketing Communications Director for Asia Pacific at Microsoft, where he was instrumental in driving integrated, insights based engagements and building teams and infrastructure that enable this capability. His 10-year stint at Microsoft included leading Microsoft’s internal CRM initiatives and various projects which exploited data and technology to drive impactful customer engagements.
Azhar currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Direct Marketing Association of Singapore.

Lyn is a senior consultant in Straits Interactive’s GRC practice. Her more than 30 years working as a lawyer includes more than 12 years as in-house counsel for ‘brand name’ US MNCs, where her responsibilities included operational risk management and legal, regulatory and operational compliance. She also served as company secretary for seven years, working with the board chairman to embed sound principles of corporate governance in a board that had previously operated relatively informally.
As a lawyer, Lyn specialises in data protection/privacy, information/cyber-security and payment systems regulation. After 10 years as a lawyer in the banking and finance department of a prominent international law firm in Australia, Lyn moved in-house as Chief Legal Officer for GE Capital for Australia/New Zealand. This introduced her to privacy/data protection at a practical level. During her stint with GE Capital she also completed green belt and black belt Six Sigma training and process improvement projects, as well as working extensively in change management and taking responsibility for risk management and compliance.
Moving to Singapore in 2000, Lyn served as Regional General Counsel for Visa Asia Pacific for nine years, with responsibility for operational risk management and legal, regulatory and operational compliance with pan-regional scope. She also served as company secretary to the Visa Asia Pacific Board. Shortly after leaving Visa, Lyn established Khardung Consulting, a corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory and risk consulting business. Hired with the explicit purpose of transforming its governance and Asia Pacific regional operations, Lyn served as Asia Pacific Managing Director for Business Software Alliance Inc. in 2011-2013. That task completed, she returned to consulting and graduated from the International Company Directors Course offered by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). In March 2015, she established Lyn Boxall LLC, after being called to the Singapore bar and gaining experience in a local law firm.
Always trying to improve herself so that she can better help clients, Lyn’s professional interests and roles include being a founding member, Singapore Committee of AICD, Member, Professional Development Committee of the Singapore Institute of Directors (with responsibility for risk, including cybersecurity risk, training), Member, Project Law Help of the Law Society of Singapore and Fellow, CPA Australia’s Singapore Chapter.

Dr. Toh See Kiat
As Legal Advisor to Straits Interactive, Dr. Toh See Kiat brings experience from the areas of Banking, Corporate, Commercial Law, Data Protection, Intellectual Property Rights, Information Technology and E-commerce Law.
He has worked with a wide range of corporate and commercial clients, industry bodies and government agencies both in Singapore and abroad, and has drafted legislation for Abu Dhabi and Dubai and done consulting work for the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank in Vietnam.
In Singapore, See Kiat has served as a Member of Parliament and Chairman of Aljunied Town Council. He was also President of the Consumers Association of Singapore and is a member of national bodies such as the National Trust Council.
See Kiat teaches at the Nanyang Technological University as an external lecturer, and is sought after as a lecturer – conducting classes and seminars on the law relating to privacy, IT contracts, IT governance, IPR on the Internet and other online business issues.
He wrote ‘Paperless International Trade: Law of Telematic Data Interchange’ (Butterworths Asia 1992) and is co-editor of ‘Legal Aspects of Doing Business in Singapore’ (Addison-Wesley Singapore 1996).
See Kiat graduated with an LLB (Hons) Degree from National University of Singapore in 1982 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore in 1983. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Law from Harvard University in 1986 and in 1991, he was awarded a PhD in Law by the University of London where he did his doctoral thesis in electronic commerce. He has also been admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales. He is also a trained mediator and arbitrator.

Ang Peng Hwa
Straits Interactive’s Legal Advisor, Dr Ang Peng Hwa, is a professor at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research interests lie in media law and policy and he has consulted on the subject for the governments of Singapore, Thailand and Bhutan. He had been involved in the work of drafting the data protection principles for Singapore back in the mid-1990s and then the early 2000s.
He is the author of ‘Ordering Chaos: Regulating the Internet’ (Thomson, 2005), a book on Internet regulation. In 2004, he was appointed by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to the 40-strong Working Group on Internet Governance. Since then, he has co-founded and chaired the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet) and the Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum.
He is one of the two vice-presidents of the Consumers’ Association of Singapore (CASE), and legal advisor to the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS). A lawyer by training, he worked as a journalist before going on to pursue a Master’s in communication management at the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in the mass media at Michigan State University.
Professor Abu Bakar Munir

Professor Abu Bakar Munir is an internationally renowned scholar, expert and consultant on ICT Law and data protection law. He is Professor of Law and former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. He is also a Visiting Professor at several universities in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and Europe. A published author of several books, including ‘Data Protection Law in Asia’ and ‘Personal Data Protection in Malaysia: Law and Practice’. He has widely published articles on several aspects of ICT law and data protection law. A well sought after speaker, he speaks extensively at conferences within Malaysia and around the world including those organised by universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and MIT. He is currently the consultant to a number of companies and organisations in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
As the Adviser to the Government of Malaysia on data protection he was instrumental in the development as well as the passing of the Act. He was an Adviser to the Governments of Indonesia and Dubai and was responsible for drafting the personal data protection laws and other IT legislation for the Republic and Emirate. A recipient of the Malaysia Cyber Security Awards (Minister’s Award) 2010 and the Malaysia Cyber Security, (Information Security Visionary of the Year) Award 2010; his other areas of specialisation include Air and Space Law, Nanotechnology Law and Renewable Energy Law and Policy.
