A global private school group was recently fined $26,000 for breaching the Protection Obligation of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

According to research, personally identifiable information, including names, images and locations, has appeared in millions of social media posts in the last 15 years. These could infringe upon students’ privacy rights and be subject to the PDPA.  

In Singapore, a Data Breach investigation is based on complaints filed to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC). We have seen the number of enforcement cases and financial penalties increasing in recent years.
