Lyn is a senior consultant in Straits Interactive’s GRC practice. Her more than 30 years working as a lawyer includes more than 12 years as in-house counsel for ‘brand name’ US MNCs, where her responsibilities included operational risk management and legal, regulatory and operational compliance. She also served as company secretary for seven years, working with the board chairman to embed sound principles of corporate governance in a board that had previously operated relatively informally.
As a lawyer, Lyn specialises in data protection/privacy, information/cyber-security and payment systems regulation. After 10 years as a lawyer in the banking and finance department of a prominent international law firm in Australia, Lyn moved in-house as Chief Legal Officer for GE Capital for Australia/New Zealand. This introduced her to privacy/data protection at a practical level. During her stint with GE Capital she also completed green belt and black belt Six Sigma training and process improvement projects, as well as working extensively in change management and taking responsibility for risk management and compliance.
Moving to Singapore in 2000, Lyn served as Regional General Counsel for Visa Asia Pacific for nine years, with responsibility for operational risk management and legal, regulatory and operational compliance with pan-regional scope. She also served as company secretary to the Visa Asia Pacific Board. Shortly after leaving Visa, Lyn established Khardung Consulting, a corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory and risk consulting business. Hired with the explicit purpose of transforming its governance and Asia Pacific regional operations, Lyn served as Asia Pacific Managing Director for Business Software Alliance Inc. in 2011-2013. That task completed, she returned to consulting and graduated from the International Company Directors Course offered by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). In March 2015, she established Lyn Boxall LLC, after being called to the Singapore bar and gaining experience in a local law firm.
Always trying to improve herself so that she can better help clients, Lyn’s professional interests and roles include being a founding member, Singapore Committee of AICD, Member, Professional Development Committee of the Singapore Institute of Directors (with responsibility for risk, including cybersecurity risk, training), Member, Project Law Help of the Law Society of Singapore and Fellow, CPA Australia’s Singapore Chapter.
